You can obtain your Texas LTC in three simple steps!

- Step 1 - Complete the Online Course: Satisfy the educational requirements with our engaging 4-hour eLearning program.

- Step 2 - Attend The Range Instruction: After the online course, participate in a 1-2 hour Range Instruction training with a Texas Qualified LTC Instructor. At the completion of the course you will receive instructions on how to coordinate with a Texas LTC instructor who can administer your in-person handgun proficiency test.

- Step 3 - Submit Your Application: Complete and submit your application to the State of Texas with our provided instructions.

Per state law, this course must include not less than four hours and not more than six hours of instruction on the above topics.
This course has been approved by the Texas Department of Public Safety.
What training is required to obtain a Texas LTC?
What type of class/training is required to obtain an LTC?
- An applicant must attend the required Texas LTC training either in a classroom or online. This online course satisfies this requirement.
- Must pass a 25-question written Proficiency Exam with a score of at least 70% (18/25).
- Must attend Range Instruction training with a Texas Qualified LTC Instructor and demonstrate the required Handgun Proficiency.
- At the completion of the course you will take your certificate of completion to any Texas LTC certified instructor to complete the Handgun Proficiency portion of the course, which is generally a 1-2 hour process. If you need help finding a certified instructor our team will be glad to facilitate that.
- A handgun license applicant will have three opportunities to pass the written examination and the proficiency examination within a 12 month period.

Is this course all that is required to obtain my Texas LTC?
No, Texas requires both classroom and range training sessions to obtain a Texas LTC. This course satisfies the classroom training requirement, but you will still need to complete a 1-2 hour "Range Proficiency" portion of the course. Instructions for how to complete the range proficiency requirement are included in this course.
What is required for the "Range Proficiency" portion of the course.
After completing this online course, you will need to complete a Range Proficiency session with a certified instructor.
Texas LTC Shooting Proficiency Demonstration Requirements:
- At least 1-hour of Range Instruction Training with a certified instructor.
- Score of 175/200 (70%) required to pass Proficiency Examination.
- 50 rounds total, fired at a B-27 target (24"x45"), from the ready position.
- 3 Yard Line - 20 Rounds
- 7 Yard Line - 20 Rounds
- 15 Yard Line - 10 Rounds
- Optical enhancers are not allowed. Only live ammunition may be used during training and qualification. Target marking cartridges are not permitted.
- 50 rounds total, fired at a B-27 target (24"x45"), from the ready position.

Do I need to complete this course all at once?
No. This eLearning course is entirely self-paced and will track and save your progress. The course is designed to be 4-hours in duration, and can be taken in whatever intervals you prefer.
